Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Currents automated bookkeeping service ("Service") operated by Currents Inc. ("Currents," "we," "us," or "our"). By using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years of age and have the legal authority to enter into these Terms on behalf of yourself or your business. The Service is designed for Canadian small businesses and is available only to residents and entities in Canada.

Currents provides an automated bookkeeping service that:

The Service is provided "as is" and is not a substitute for professional accounting, tax, or legal advice. You remain responsible for the accuracy of your books and for filing obligations with the CRA and other authorities.

3. Account Registration

To use the Service, you must create an account and provide accurate information. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and for all activities under your account. You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.

4. Subscription and Billing

4.1 Pricing

The Service is offered at a monthly subscription fee of $149 CAD/month (plus applicable taxes), unless otherwise agreed in writing.

4.2 Free Trial

New accounts receive a 14-day free trial. You will not be charged during the trial period. You may cancel at any time during the trial without charge. After the trial ends, your subscription will automatically begin and you will be billed monthly in advance.

4.3 Payment

Payments are processed through Stripe Inc. You agree to provide valid payment information and authorize recurring monthly charges. We reserve the right to update pricing with 30 days' written notice.

4.4 Cancellation

You may cancel your subscription at any time. Upon cancellation, you will retain access until the end of your current billing period. No prorated refunds are provided for partial months.

6. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its software, design, documentation, and branding, is owned by Currents and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You do not acquire any ownership rights in the Service.

Your data remains your data. You retain all rights to your financial documents and transaction data uploaded to the Service.

7. Data Processing and Privacy

Our collection, use, and disclosure of your information is governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. By using the Service, you consent to the data practices described in the Privacy Policy, including cross-border transfers to Stripe, Intuit, or Zoho.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

Currents does not guarantee the accuracy of AI-generated categorizations. You are solely responsible for verifying the correctness of your financial records.

9. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Currents, its officers, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your breach of these Terms, or your violation of applicable law.

10. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service immediately, without notice, for conduct that we determine, in our sole discretion, violates these Terms, is harmful to other users or the Service, or involves fraudulent activity. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Ontario.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated via email or a prominent notice on our website at least 30 days before they take effect. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
